“In the videos delivered to the police, Johnstone is seen repeatedly using shock collars on the dogs, stepping on their leashes to pull their heads to the ground, and even using the leashes to spin the dogs in the air.“, reports the statement. “He now faces four counts of serious crimes of torture, mutilation or serious injury to animals.”

The same day Johnstone was arrested, ICE authorities served an immigration detainer at the Clark County Detention Center. The next day, April 2, Clark County officials complied with the order and turned Johnstone into custody.

Severe animal abuse

The authorities indicated that the man faces serious accusations of acts of torture against dogsalthough the full details of the file have not been publicly disclosed. The case is now in the hands of the judicial system, where formal charges and possible sentences will be determined.

In Nevada, severe animal abuse can be considered a felony, with penalties including prison time.

According to official sources, “Johnstone entered the country in 2021 under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) and was authorized to remain in the country until February 2022. He violated the nation’s laws and overstayed his visa.”
