Pope Leo XIV will receive the American Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, at the Vaticana meeting that took place a month after the disagreement between the pontiff and the president of the United States, Donald Trump. The meeting in the Vatican is scheduled for this Thursday, according to Italian media, citing sources from the Holy See.

A month ago, April 7, The Pope described as unacceptable the American president’s threat to wipe out an entire civilization in his war against Teranto which Trump responded by calling him “weak and terrible at foreign policy.”
A week later, Leo advancing his intention to continue preaching peace.
The head of American diplomacy will fly to Rome to, in addition to other foreseeable commitments in the Italian capital, meet with the Compatriot Pope and try to shore up the relationship between Washington and the Vatican. It will not be the first time they see each other, but on May 19, 2025, Leo XIV met with Rubio and the vice president of the United States, JD Vance, both Catholics, one day after the beginning of his papacy.
Precisely next Friday, May 8, will be the first anniversary of Prevost’s election, a day that will be celebrated by visiting the sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rosary in Pompeii, near Naples, in southern Italy.
