Shakira showed that she is an icon that transcends borders and generations. The Colombian turned Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro into a giant stage where more than two million people They gathered to sing their songs and dance to the rhythm of their music.

The figure was confirmed by the mayor of Rio de Janeiro and marks a record for a Latin artist, since it surpassed the number of stars like Madonna, who gathered 1.5 million people in 2024. It also came close to the number that Girl Gaga reached, which was 2.1 million.

However, media such as Globo claim that more than 3 million came to see Shakira.

After this concert, the performer of “La Tortura” is positioned as a cultural phenomenon in Brazil, one of the most difficult Latin audiences to conquer.

How was Shakira’s show?

At the beginning, due to personal problems that were not specified, The Barranquilla native came on stage an hour late. Despite this, Globo TV reported, through its live signal, that the public’s expectations did not drop at any time and upon her arrival, Shakira surprised with a staging full of narrative and technology.

“I can’t believe I’m here with you, and to think I came here when I was 18, dreaming of singing for you, and now look at this, look at this!”

For his first act, he decided to wear a sweatshirt inspired by the colors of Brazil and began with “La Fuerte”, song from their most recent album “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran”.

Then he continued with “Girl Address Me” and a combination of “I’m Here”“One of the things that caught the most attention is that Shakira spoke in Portuguese and addressed the audience with closeness.

The show was a musical journey through three decades of career, integrating pop, rock, reggaeton and Latin rhythms. They sounded classics like “Inevitable”, “Pies descalzos”, “Antología” and “Ojos Así”, along with recent hits like “TQG” and “Te felicito”in line with their “Women No Longer Cry” tour

In “Hips Don’t Lie,” the artist incorporated elements of Colombian Mapalé, reinforcing her cultural identity within a global stage.

Guest artists

One of the highest points of the concert was the participation of luxury guest artists who reinforced the Latin American connection. Anitta appeared to perform “Choka Choka.” Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânialeaders of Brazilian music, performed with her “O leãozinho” and “O que é, o que é?” Ivete Sangalo joined with “Tropical Country”, consolidating the link with Brazil.

Throughout the night, several moments marked peaks of emotion: “The Bicycle”, “Blackmail” and “Torture” they brought Colombian rhythms to the stage; the acoustic block of “Antología” became one of the most intimate moments; “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” unleashed a collective explosion with thousands of people jumping in unison; and the closing with “She Wolf” and BZRP Song Intervals #53 reaffirmed its global validity.

The show was also marked by symbolism such as the “10 Commandments of a Madwoman” and references to single mothers in Brazil.
