Fans are one step closer to the film adaptation of “The Chronicles of Narnia” by Greta Gerwig. The renowned director of “Barbie” will materialize the magical universe of CS Lewis with a dream cast and a premiere date already confirmed.
The enchanted world of children’s books will come to life on the big screen on February 12, 2027and later will arrive on Netflix on April 2 of the same year. lThe long-awaited adaptation now has an official title: “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew.” The premiere was delayed, as it was originally expected to arrive on the platform by the end of this year.
A stellar cast
The first installment of this second attempt to bring Lewis’s novels to film will feature a top-notch cast. Meryl Streep, Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, Emma Mackey and Denise Gough They are among the actors who appear in the film.
They are joined by Ciarán Hinds, Susan Wokoma, David McKenna, Beatrice Campbell and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith.
Gerwig not only directs, she also works as a screenwriter and producer. Members of the CS Lewis estate participate as producers, guaranteeing fidelity to the customary spirit of the work.
The 42-year-old director shared in a statement her deep connection with the story, as reported by People magazine: “Technology a little girl when I first read “The Magician’s Nephew”and I fell in love with the unimaginable, but absolutely brilliant concept of a cosmic lion that brings the world of Narnia to life by singing,” he confessed.
“I didn’t know that when I grew up I would dedicate myself to cinema, but the idea of a universe built from music has always been present in my heart,” he added.
“Thanks to Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia, I believed in magic, hidden worlds and adventure.”
Published on May 2, 1955, The novel is the sixth of the seven that make up the author’s seriesbut chronologically it is the first. The story takes place 1000 years before the events of “The Lion, the Witch and the Dresser.” and focuses on the creation of the magical world of Narnia by the lion Aslan.
Unlike the previous film saga, which only adapted “The Lion, the Witch and the Dresser”, “Prince Caspian” and “The Voyage of the Smash of day Treader”, This new version starts from the origins of the Narnian universe.
