While the official team prepares to compete in the Hypercar category starting in 2027, a variant designed exclusively for circuit use is also being developed, far from any homologation for the street.
Racing DNA from the beginning
The new development has deep roots in McLaren’s history at Le Mans, especially that victory in 1995 with the F1 GTR. Now, the goal is to fight at the top again, and this program functions as a direct extension of that effort.
The racing model, known internally as MCL-HYwill be limited by regulations in power and hybrid configuration. On the other hand, the client version breaks those restrictions to offer a more intense experience.
More power and a cleaner ride
The focus of the private model is clear. The hybrid system is eliminated and a pure 2.9-liter biturbo V6 is opted for.
The estimated power ranges between 720 and 730 horsepower.making it an even more forceful machine than its competition equivalent.
The absence of the electrical system not only simplifies the whole thing, it also provides a more direct response and a more immediate connection with the car. The experience aims to be demanding, but also deeply exciting.
Adapted for demanding clients
Although the starting point is a racing car, the development includes certain adjustments to make it more accessible to non-professional drivers. The chassis, worked together with Dallara, and the aerodynamics derived from the official program maintain the technical levelbut with a setup that allows you to enjoy it without having to be a professional pilot.
No specific performance figures have been reported on the track, but everything indicates that it will far surpass other extreme models of the brand in sensations and behavior.
Access to this model will be as limited as it is selective. There is talk of a production of between 30 and 35 units, and McLaren itself will choose its future owners.
The package includes a complete two-year program with experiences on top-level circuits, direct technical assistance, use of simulators and exclusive events linked to the world of endurance, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The price has not been revealed, but it is expected to be well over $1,000,000.
