The World Cup of the United States, Mexico and Canada It will be the first World Cup with forty eight teams. This tournament is expected to generate large amounts of money. FIFA has increased the budget allocated to prizes for the national teams. $871 million dollars will be distributed.
This figure significantly exceeds the amount of money given at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Four years ago, close to $440 million dollars. This time the numbers will be records.
This change, approved by FIFA, was justified by the number of teams participating in the tournament. With forty eight teams there will be a greater number of matches and a greater number of revenues are expected.
How will they distribute the $871 million dollars?
In the first instance, just for participating, each of the forty eight teams will have in their accounts the amount corresponding to $12.5 million dollars. Another preparation amount is added to this figure (to cover expenses prior to the tournament), which is around $2.5 million dollars.

The winner of the tournament will take the biggest piece of the pie. The team that wins the World Cup, in addition to sporting prestige, will have $50 million dollars in his pocket.
But not only the winner will receive monetary incentives. The selection runner-up will receive $33 million dollars; third place will be awarded with $29 million dollars and the fourth place will have some $27 million prize money.
It is estimated that the 2026 World Cup will generate around $13 billion dollars. ANDThis value is calculated in a time range between 2023 and 2026. The sector that would produce the most money for FIFA is income from television rights ($4.2 billion dollars).
