The president of the United States, Donald Trump, He warned German Chancellor Friedrich Merz this Thursday that he should focus more on “fixing” his “broken” country. and end the war in Ukraine, than to “interfere” in the conflict with Iran, in a new salvo in the exchange of criticism between both leaders.
“Germany’s chancellor should spend more time ending the war with Russia/Ukraine (where it has been totally ineffective!) and fixing his country, which is broken, especially on immigration and energy; and less time interfering with those who are eliminating the Iranian nuclear threat,” the US president wrote on his social network, Truth Social.
According to Trump, US efforts to end Tehran’s nuclear program will make “the world, including Germany, a safer place”.
The day before, the American announced in Truth Social that his Government “is studying and analyzing the possible reduction of troops in Germany” and added that the decision could be announced in the coming days.
A day earlier, Trump had already responded to the German Chancellor’s claims that the US Administration does not have a coherent exit strategy from the conflict and that Tehran is “humiliating” Washington in peace negotiations.
The Republican accused the European leader of not supporting the US in the war against Iran and to believe “that it is good that Iran has a nuclear weapon”, in addition to emphasizing that “it is no wonder that Germany is doing so badly, both economically and in other aspects!”
Merz initially supported the American and Israeli attacks on Iran. However, with the passage of time he has assumed an increasingly critical stance, which has earned him reproaches from the Republican.
