The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, set her position on the United States accusations against Rubén Rocha, and said that if there is no clear evidence that the governor of Sinaloa is linked to drug trafficking, it will be considered a political matter.
“If there is no clear evidence, it is evident that the objective of these accusations by the Department of Justice (of the United States) is political”, he stated.
The Mexican president assured that if the investigation by the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic shows that there are sufficient elements in the accusation against Rubén Rocha, they will act within the law and no one will be covered up.
“As President of the Republic, my position regarding these events is truth, justice and defense of sovereignty, that is, if the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic, which is the competent authority, receives compelling, irrefutable evidence in accordance with Mexican legislation or in its own investigation finds elements constituting a crime, must proceed in accordance with the law under our jurisdiction. I have always said it clearly and we have acted accordingly, we are not going to cover up anyone who has committed a crime.”, he assured.
After reading a statement about his position in his morning conference, Sheinbaum Pardo warned that he will not allow the interference or interference of any foreign government in the country’s affairs.
“It should be extremely clear, Under no circumstances are we going to allow the interference or interference of a foreign government in the decisions that correspond exclusively to the people of Mexico. Truth, justice and defense of sovereignty,” he stated in his statement.
The head of the Mexican executive explained that On April 28, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) received ten requests for provisional arrest for extradition purposeswhich were turned over a day later to the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) for evaluation in accordance with Mexican legislation.

After the publication of the accusation by the US authorities, Sheinbaum questioned the dissemination of the document.
“This leads to an estrangement from the legal field of foreign relations.given that these processes are confidential in accordance with the treaties on the matter,” he commented.
Likewise, he criticized that, according to the information sent by the United States, The tests are based on “one person’s saying”but insisted that there must be “conclusive evidence” for an arrest warrant to be issued.
Furthermore, the president insisted that the relationship with the United States must be on terms of equality.
“Mexico establishes a relationship of equals with all nations. Never of subordination and even less of surrender“he stated.
Sheinbaum’s reaction occurs after on Wednesday the US Department of Justice, through the Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern District of New York, made public charges for alleged drug trafficking and weapons crimes against ten Mexican citizens, including Rocha Rocha Moya, a senator from Sinaloa and the mayor of Culiacán (state capital), whom it links to the Sinaloa Cartel, particularly with the Los Chapitos faction.
