A 25-year-old young woman, identified as Madeline Spatafore was allegedly murdered by her husband, Ryan Hosso, 26, who took his own life after confessing to the crime in Pennsylvania.
According to a statement from the Pennsylvania State Police cited by Fox Recordsdata, the crime occurred during the early hours of Tuesday. After the attack, Hosso called his parents to inform them that he had killed his wife and was considering suicide. His parents immediately alerted the authorities.
Upon arriving at the home, officers found Spatafore with multiple gunshot wounds. Hosso was later found dead in a wooded area near the residence with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Investigation ongoing and motive unknown
The authorities indicated that the investigation remains open and that, so far, The motive behind the crime is unknown.
The case has generated shock in the community, not only because of the violence of the events, but also because of the profile of the victim and the history of the couple.
Madeline Spatafore worked as a neurocritical care physician assistant at the UPMC Presbyterian sanatorium in Pittsburgh. According to his professional profile, he graduated with “summa cum laude” honors in health services in 2023, after completing his university studies at Duquesne College.
During her academic training, she participated in various high-level activities, including the health honor society Pi Kappa Epsilon and her role as academic officer of the Delta Zeta sorority.
Year-long relationship that ended in tragedy
The couple had been high school sweethearts and married in September 2024, according to available records. Photos on social media show them together since at least 2018, when they attended their prom.
So far, no details about Hosso’s work or academic history have been revealed.
