Just days after being announced as part of the cast of the fourth season of HBO’s “The White Lotus”, Helena Bonham Carter left the productionaccording to The Hollywood Reporter.
The reason, according to official sources, does not respond to creative differences or agenda conflicts, but rather a problem of “fitting” the character once filming began.
“With filming on the fourth season of “The White Lotus” having just begun, It became clear that the character Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not fit into the station.“an HBO spokesperson stated in a statement.
The same source added that the role is being rewritten and that the production will look for a new actress in the coming weeks. “HBO, the producers and Mike White regret not being able to work with her, but remain big fans and they look forward to collaborating with the legendary actress on another project soon.“, concludes the text.
A filming in progress
The fourth season of Mike White’s hit series recently started filming in Franceand will be set during the Cannes Film Festivala scenic twist that promises a different tone than the previous installments.
Bonham Carter, 58, He was one of the first names confirmed to join the cast, which generated high expectations among the show’s followers.
The actress has two Oscar nominations for “The King’s Speech” (2010) and “The Wings of the Dove” (1997), and her filmography includes titles as diverse as “War Club” (1999), “Charlie and the Chocolate Manufacturing Facility” (2005) or the Harry Potter saga, as well as her acclaimed performance as Princess Margaret in Netflix’s “The Crown.”
Despite this last-minute drop, the cast of the fourth season remains large and varied. Among the names already announced are:
Alexander Ludwig, AJ Michalka, Steve Coogan, Chris Messina, Sandra Bernhard, Ari Graynor, Vincent Cassel, Kumail Nanjiani, Heather Graham, Rosie Perez, Chloe Bennet, Max Greenfield, Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Laura Smet, among others.
The series, which has been an audience and critical phenomenon for HBOhas not yet confirmed its release date for this fourth installment, although it is expected that the recordings will extend over the next few months in locations in the south of France.
