A necessary change of strategy
Until now, rivian had moved into a more top fee terrain with models like the R1T and the R1S. With R2, the understanding is different. This SUV is more compact, more accessible and is designed to become a global product.
Production is already underway at the Current, Illinois plant, with first deliveries scheduled for spring 2026. The brand sees it as the beginning of a stage where scale will be as important as innovation.

Dimensions and competitive focus
The R2 enters the mid-segment with a clear proposal. It measures 4.72 meters long, 1.98 meters wide and 1.70 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.94 meters. Its design opts for more robust and marked lines.
The objective is obvious, to compete directly with the Tesla Model Ywhich until now dominates this segment globally. Rivian wants to stop being a niche brand and start playing in the big leagues.
Autonomy and versions for everyone
The R2 range will be made up of several mechanical options. The input version points to a autonomy of 539 kilometerswith fairly contained consumption. In addition, it will be able to charge at powers of up to 217 kW, which It allows you to go from 10 to 80 percent in about 29 minutes.
