Two young men were arrested for an alleged plot to attack a synagogue in Texas, which consisted of running over the congregation with a vehicle to “kill as many Jews as possible”according to authorities and court documents.

The arrests come a month after a gunman crashed his pickup truck into a prominent Detroit-area synagogue in another attack on the Jewish community.

Synagogues around the world have reinforced security and protection of worshipers since the United States and Israel began war with Iran on February 28, The Related Press (AP) reported.

Angelina Han Hicks18, of Lexington, North Carolina, was being held Thursday in the Davidson County Jail on $10 million bail, according to jail records.

She was arrested Wednesday and formally charged with conspiring with two men to commit murder and assault against members of Congregation Beth Israel in Houston on April 21, 2028, according to arrest warrants reviewed by the AP, which detail two felony charges against her.

The FBI office in Charlotte reported Thursday on social media that a minor was arrested in connection with the plot and charged in Harris County, Texas, which includes Houston.

No information was immediately available on whether the minor was one of the two men identified in the arrest warrants for Hicks, which only included their first names and their last names were listed as “unknown.”

A Houston Police Department news release issued Thursday announced the arrest of a 16-year-old boy on charges of conspiracy to commit capital murder in connection with “a threat directed at certain Jewish institutions in our area”which the agency became aware of on Wednesday.

The department did not specifically identify Congregation Beth Israel. The FBI and the Houston School District Police Department assisted in the arrest.

“At this time, there is no other known credible threat,” the statement said.
