The Memphis Police Department reported the discovery of three children in a wooded area, which It is believed that they were between 3 and 7 years old.and the circumstances of their deaths are still unknown.

Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn Davis stated at a news conference that based on information received from the Medical Examiner’s Office and scientists working on the case, They believe that the remains had been there “several years”.

Davis added that authorities reviewed recent reports of missing minors, but did not find any records that matched the profile of the remains.

“We know that this person, or these people, were not people who had been reported outside of our area,” Davis said.

The investigation, involving 170 officers, began on March 8, 2026, when officers responded to a call about a suspicious person at 3400 Ridge Meadow Parkway, according to a news release.

The call came from a community member who was walking his dog when “He came across what he thought could be human or animal remains and called the police.”Davis continued.

In the following days, deputies and personnel from the Medical Examiner’s Office and the Shelby County Search and Rescue Team returned to the scene to conduct a more thorough search of the area, and on March 10, “canine cadaver detection units alerted to a nearby drainage pipe, indicating the possible presence of more human remains.”

On March 16, the drainage system was inspected with a camera system and no further remains were found during that search, but on April 1, “investigators accessed the drainage system from a nearby location and found what appeared to be another skull.”

The next day, search teams found another 14 bones “compatible with human remains,” according to the statement.

“Somebody knows where these kids are coming from, anybody knows about the missing kids that we’ve found in this area,” Davis said. “This is heartbreaking, it is disturbing, and at this time, we have numerous resources to help us identify these young people and bring this investigation to a close.”

Davis added that authorities “They will follow this investigation to the letter, leaving no stone unturnedconsidering all the possibilities that these people come from outside this city.”
