What should have been a night of celebration and emotional connection at the Area 1 venue on the Costa Verde, in Peru, turned into a tense and unexpected moment. Laura Pausini, known for her closeness and sincerity with the public, abruptly stopped her concert to recriminate the attitude of the attendees located in the first row.
The incident occurred while the Italian performer was singing the song “Fallen Angels.” Noticing that the fervor of the rear areas was not replicated in the luxury seats, Pausini decided to take a break.
“I have to stop, excuse me,” he said before the approximately 15,000 spectators who waited two years for his return as part of the “Yo Canto World Tour.”
With obvious annoyance, the singer asked the cameraman to divert his attention from the front rows to other areas of the venue. “I found out, I looked there. Everyone sings there and here in the front row they don’t sing,” he pointed out directly.
The criticism was even more scathing when referring to the purchasing power of said attendees.: “They pay a lot, but they don’t know my songs. Sir, you need to go further because the front row pays a lot, but they don’t know my songs,” he reiterated, addressing the technical staff.
The artist even urged those present in the Platinum area—whose tickets reached $189—to, If they didn’t know the lyrics, at least they “moved their lips” to hide it.
The reaction at the venue was mixed; While a large part of the fans applauded the claim, demanding greater dedication to the “privileged”, other sectors on social networks described the star’s attitude as exaggerated.
The singer’s comments generated an intense debate on social networkswhere the singer was harshly criticized. After the controversy, Pausini responded to some of the criticism left on his social networks.
As he explained, His intention was not to attack the public, but to express a personal feeling during the mark.
“Maybe I explained myself wrong. In the front row there were many people who didn’t open their mouths from the beginning of the concert. It’s their right, of course, but for a singer to see that makes you feel a little sad,” he said.
