Brazilian Helinho denounces racism after the fight with América

Brazilian striker Helinho of the Red Devils of Toluca reacted publicly to the series of racist attacks that he has received on social networks as a result of the fight he had with players of the America last Saturday in the duel held at the Banorte stadium.

Helinho explained that the majority of comments of this nature have been received on his internal most Instagram account, where he regretted the stance and viciousness with which his detractors have reacted accusing him of countless atrocities, but above all of a racist nature

In the video that the “Red Devils” gunner did not hesitate to share, you can see the whole series of aggressive comments that have been generated in the last few hours and where reference is made to the skin color of the attacker in the scarlet painting, which motivated him to launch a strong and emotional message condemning these events.

“They are not clichés, they are real comments published this week on my social networks. Words that try to belittle, hurt and dehumanize. Even at the elite level, athletes continue to be victims of racism on and off the court.”

“Talent, effort and fame are not always enough to stop hate. But these are not ‘just comments’. Racism is not an opinion, it is violence. Every word has weight, reinforces stigmas and feeds a problem that is transmitted from generation to generation. And silence is also part of it,” highlighted the Brazilian.

At the end of the short video message, Helinho stressed that “racism is a crime”which is why he assured the importance of publicizing this type of attacks to try to put an end to the practice of racism, which currently remains one of the greatest calamities of humanity.

He also added that: “When we see it and ignore it, racism persists, it grows with omission, it is strengthened with normalization; therefore, it is not just about those who suffer from it, it is about all of us. Report it. Take a stand, don’t normalize it. “Respect is not an option, it is the minimum vital”concluded the Toluca attacker.

Helinho was directly involved in the exchange of blows that occurred on the Banorte stadium field last Saturday in their exchange of blows with Sebastián Cáceres and Alejandro Zendejas on the court and with Henry Martín in the VIP area Heading to the locker room.
