Donald Trump recorded his lowest approval level since the beginning of his second termamid growing criticism over the management of the economy and the war with Iran, according to a survey released by NBC Data.

The survey, prepared by NBC Data Choice Desk with support from SurveyMonkey, reveals that only 37% of adults approve of Trump’s management, compared to 63% who disapprove, including 50% who expressed a strong rejection. This result marks the lowest point in the president’s popularity since he returned to the White House.

Two-thirds of respondents also disapproved of his performance on key issues such as inflation and the conflict with Iran, reflecting the political impact of the combination of international tensions and domestic economic difficulties.

Economy, important claim

The survey highlights that the economy continues to be the important issue for Americans: 29% consider it their biggest real concern, above issues such as democracy, health or security.

In particular, inflation and rising cost of living are leading economic concerns. Forty five% of those surveyed identified this problem as the most important, while only 32% approve of Trump’s management in this area, compared to 68% who disapprove.

Besides, 40% of Americans stated that their personal financial situation is worse than a year ago, while only 19% consider that it has improved. “Inflation and the cost of living were the clear winners” among economic concerns, the report said.

Rejection of war with Iran

At the international level, the handling of the conflict with Iran also weighs on the president’s popularity. The poll shows that two-thirds of Americans disapprove of his handling of the war, while only one-third support it.

A clear majority 61% believe that the United States should not take new military actions against Iran. This rejection is even stronger among young people: 74% of those under 30 years of age oppose an escalation of the conflict.

Although Trump announced a temporary ceasefire on April 7, public perception of his handling of the war did not show significant changes during the survey period.

Republican support declines

In addition to the overall drop in popularity, Trump maintains solid support among Republican voters, although with signs of wear. 83% of Republicans approve of his management, four points less than at the beginning of the year.

That is, the percentage of “strong” support within his unhappy fell from 58% to 52%, suggesting a slight erosion even among his most loyal supporters.

Overall, only a third of Americans believe the country is on the right track, while two-thirds say the opposite, representing the highest level of pessimism since the start of his second term.
