Iranian woman arrested at Los Angeles airport accused of trafficking weapons

A woman was arrested this Saturday night at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as suspected of trafficking arms on behalf of the Iranian government.

The same old deputy prosecutor of Los Angeles in California, Bill Essayli, published on social networks that Shamim Mafi, 44, Woodland Hills residentwill appear this Monday, April 20, before the United States District Court, in downtown Los Angeles.

Closing evening, Shamim Mafi, 44, of Woodland Hills, was arrested at Los Angeles World Airport for trafficking fingers on behalf of the government of Iran. Essayli said Mafi is accused of violating Section 1705 of Title 50 of the United States Code by being an intermediary in the sale of drones, bombs, bomb fuses and millions of rounds of ammunition manufactured in Iran and sold to Sudan.

“Mafi is an Iranian citizen and obtained acceptable permanent residence in the United States in 2016. He is expected to make his initial appearance Monday afternoon in U.S. District Court. in downtown Los Angeles,” Essayli expressed in his publication.

The same old deputy prosecutor mentioned that Mafi is presumed innocent until proven guilty before the court.

Essayli mentioned that Mafi, if found guilty of the charges, faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison.
