Cher, seventy-nine years old, filed a new application for legal guardianship for his son Elijah Blue Allman, 49 years oldbefore the Los Angeles Superior Court. This petition, filed earlier this week, develops after Allman was arrested multiple times during the last few months and will face serious mental health and addiction problems.
The artist had already requested temporary guardianship of her son’s assets in December 2023, asking to be the sole guardian. This time, however, he proposes that trustee Jason Rubin fill that position. According to legal documents, Allman’s life “has deteriorated significantly” since the previous request.
Deterioration on a physical and mental level
According to documents obtained by Folks, Allman is currently “in custody in the state of Original Hampshire, in a closed psychiatric health center,” in an attempt to restore his mental capacity to face criminal charges in two counties.
The crimes he is charged with include burglary, property damage, easy assault, trespassing of private property and breach of bail.
The musician’s financial situation is, according to his mother, catastrophic. Cher alleges that Allman “has no idea what money is” and it is “unable to manage its financial resources and resist fraud or undue influence” due to their mental health and addiction problems.
The Grammy winner claims that her son “immediately spends all the money he receives,” almost always on “drugs, expensive hotels, and limo transportation.”
According to the documentation presented, Allman has not paid “any income tax”owing $200,000, and also failed to appear in court after his ex-wife, Marieangela King, ordered him to pay spousal support.
It should be remembered that Cher previously withdrew her request for conservatorship in September 2024 after reaching a private agreement.
Last month, Elijah was arrested again for home invasion with forced entrydays after being arrested in Harmony for allegedly causing a disturbance at a prestigious high school.
Elijah Blue Allman is due in court on Monday, April 20 in the Harmony case and again on Wednesday, April 22 for the Windham case. The hearing on the guardianship request is scheduled for Friday, April 24.
