Trace Ruffaloknown for his participation in important productions such as “Avengers” and “The Price of Truth”, has joined the heated debate generated by the merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery.
Just a few days after joining the more than 1,000 personalities who raised their voices through a letter in opposition to the agreement, the actor who gave life to “Hulk” reaffirmed his position in a video conference led by Senator Cory Booker.
True to his direct personality, Trace Ruffalo expressed his concern about the consequences that the signing of this agreement would bring to the film scene.
“The merger threatens more than just our livelihoods. It threatens one of the most vital industries in the world (…) I can personally say that Los Angeles is hanging by a thread right now“He noted during the hearing.
One of the immediate effects, according to the actor’s words, are the layoffs that could occur as a result of the merger. “The pattern is documented and predictably repeated in merger announcements, promises of improved efficiency, followed by mass layoffs and production cuts.”he added.
In this sense, Ruffalo warned that the union of these two entertainment giants would control a significant part of the media landscapewith networks like CBS News and CNN under its command.
“You don’t need to see Citizen Kane or peek 1984 to understand that the concentrated oligarchic adjustment that represents This merger is a threat to freedom of the press, an informed citizenry and democracy itself.“, he stated.
To support his statements, the protagonist of “13 occurring 30” cited a statement from the United States Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, about this multimillion-dollar operation: “The sooner David Ellison takes the adjustment, the better.”
Finally, Trace Ruffalo harshly attacked the CEO of Warner Bros., David Zaslav, whom he accused of being “the downfall” of the renowned production company. “It practically ruined Warner Bros. to the point that they accumulated so much debt that they had to sell it,” he lamented.
