An alleged party linked to the criminal group “The Russians” in Mexicali, Baja California, led to an extensive security operation that culminated in firearm detonations, searches and the arrest of at least 28 peopleincluding a leader of the group.
According to journalistic reports, it all started after complaints about a noisy celebration. However, The situation escalated when authorities received reports of shots fired.which caused the mobilization of corporations from the three levels of government.
Police and military elements implemented a fence in the area that lasted up to 18 hours, while a search warrant was obtained to intervene at the home.
During the operation, Attacks and explosions were reported, which raised tension in the area. Finally, after entering the property, the authorities arrested 28 people allegedly linked to the criminal cell.
According to the weekly Proceso, among those detained are Miguel German Martinez Rangelalias “El Mike”, identified as an operator of the group “Los Rusos”, a faction linked to the Sinaloa Cartel.
Reports indicate that this criminal group is associated with the faction known as “The Mays”and is headed by Juan José Ponce Felixalias “El Ruso”, considered one of the leaders of said criminal structure.
The authorities indicated that the search was carried out in a coordinated manner between state and federal forces, as part of the actions to combat the presence of organized crime groups in the region.
This case shows how an initial noise report led to the discovery of alleged criminal activities, as well as a large-scale operation in the border city.
