The president of the United States, Donald Trump, deleted the image from his social network Fact Social where he represented himself as Jesus the healer and he defended having published it because, he said, he believed it was him being a “doctor.”

“Yes I published it, I thought it was me as a doctor. It’s supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better. And I do make people better,” he told the press at the White House after having deleted the controversial publication.

Trump also attacked the press for having echoed the controversy and said that “only the fake news media could invent something like that.”

It was last Sunday night that the Republican published this image generated with artificial intelligence in which he appears represented as Jesus, a publication that he deleted after it generated rejection from the Catholic community.

The publication aroused unprecedented discomfort among those who usually support the president’s pronouncements.

For example, Isabel Brown, host of a Catholic podcast on the Everyday Wire outlet and an influential conservative figure, lamented that “this post is, frankly, disgusting and unacceptable, but also a profound misinterpretation of the American people who is experiencing a true and beautiful rebirth of faith in Christ in the midst of our fractured culture.”

Michael Knowles, another conservative Catholic podcaster aligned with Trump, was forceful when he assured that “it is in the president’s interest, both spiritually and politically, to delete the photo, regardless of the intention.”

The American leader also published an unprecedented message in which he harshly criticized Pope Leo XIV for his opposition to the war in Iran. that the United States and Israel began on February 28.

Trump accused the pontiff of being “weak on crime and terrible on foreign policy.”

Leo XIV responded this Monday by assuring that he is “not afraid of the Trump Administration.”“.

“I will continue to raise my voice to build peace,” he told reporters aboard the papal plane.

Questioned by the press at the White House, Trump said that he does not plan to apologize to the Pope because he believes that he has said things that “are wrong.” EFE
