The premiere of music video “Un waltz”, Christian Nodal’s most recent single, has unleashed a whirlwind of speculation and criticism on social networks.
The controversy centers on the notable physical resemblance between the protagonist of the video clip and the Argentine rapper Cazzu.mother of the singer’s daughter. Faced with the growing unrest, the 26-year-old interpreter decided to issue a strong message to distance himself from the situation.
Since launch, Fans pointed out disturbing similarities: from the model’s dark hair and physiognomy, even neck tattoos and a style of clothing who directly remembers the “Head of Entice”. Many accused Nodal of using his ex’s image in a narrative way in his new production.
Through their Instagram stories, Nodal surprised by revealing that he does not have total watch on support for his visual productions.
“I do not own my name, my image, or my music, and what happened with the video is proof of that,” the singer wrote, suggesting that the choice of the model and the artistic concept fell on corporate decisions beyond his control.
He concluded his message in a melancholic way: “But my voice, which is the only thing I have left, will always be with you.”
The protagonist’s word
For its part, Dagna, the Mexican model living in Spain who stars in the video clip, also raised her voice.
In a profound video, he lamented the comparisons and defended his professional identity. “It hurts me a little that an artist who doesn’t deserve any of this and who doesn’t deserve to be compared is involved,” he said.
As Nodal tries to close this chapter, Cazzu opted for silence, staying away from a controversy which, according to the singer himself, is the result of the lack of autonomy over his own career.
