The authorities reported that Aureoles avoided an operation deployed at the beginning of March 2025 in Jalisco, where he had been located. According to the investigation, from that point he was transferred with the help of said prison group, which has complicated his location.
The right governor, Alfredo Ramirez Bedollastated that there are indications that the former president is outside the country, even in the United States.
The government of Michoacán asked the Total Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic to file a red file with Interpol, in order to expand its search internationally.
The accusations against Aureoles include alleged fraud related to the diversion of billions of pesos in the construction and leasing of security barracks, as well as crimes of qualified homicide, torture and abuse of authority.
Due to these events, several former officials of his administration have already been arrested, including those who held positions in finance and public security, the site Expansión Política reported.
One of the most relevant investigations is linked to the events that occurred on April 5, 2017 in the indigenous community of Arantepacua, in the municipality of Nahuatzen. That day, a police operation was carried out to recover vehicles seized in the middle of an agrarian conflict, which led to an armed confrontation that left at least four community members dead, in addition to several injured and reports of disappearances.
