Authorities recovered the body of a five-year-old girl this Thursday morning.which was carried away by the intense ocean current in Laguna Beach.
The news about the discovery of the minor occurs after the United States Coast Guard (USCG) announced Wednesday night the suspension of the searchafter more than 30 hours of work in which more than 90 square miles were covered in the attempt to find it.
Laguna Beach city officials reported that The girl’s body was discovered during an aerial search early this Thursday250 to 300 yards (228 to 275 meters) offshore in the Christmas Cove area.

The area where the minor’s body was found is located approximately a quarter of a mile (400 meters) away. from the area where the girl was initially swept away by the current, near Like Island Beach.
“The non-public of Laguna Beach Maritime Safety responded to the scene and recovered the body with the help of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Harbor Patrol“city officials reported in a statement.
Subsequently, the sheriff’s department’s Forensic Division positively identified the girl’s bodyso the victim’s relatives were informed.

On the night of Tuesday, June 9, the girl was reported missing near Like Island Beachwith reports that a mother and her two children had been swept away by strong waves near the coast.
A group of bathers responded quickly and managed to rescue the girl’s mother and brother from the water. Several agencies, including the USCG, joined in the efforts to find the minor, who had been swept away by the current.
