Teachers and families of missing people collapse access to the Azteca Stadium

Less than forty eight hours before the inauguration of the World Cup 2026, The marches for social demands in CDMX, such as that of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) and the families of the disappeared, put FIFA in check due to the blockades of access to the Azteca stadium.

Around 10 in the morning, the members of both groups converged andn one of the main access routes to the three-time World Cup stage such as Calzada de Tlalpanto the point of keeping vehicular access closed about five kilometers away from the stage where Mexico against South Africa will get the ball rolling in the World Cup.

These marches generated confusion, annoyance and confrontations with the inhabitants of these southern areas of the city, anticipating what will happen next Thursday on the date scheduled for the start of the World Cup tournament and where it is assured that the claims will intensify.

To make matters worse, the owners of the boxes at the World Cup venue also gathered in this same place to complain against FIFA for several unfulfilled promises regarding the use of said seats and which has also generated a real kind confrontation and which could lead to a social claim along with that of the CNTE.

The authorities of the government of Mexico City saw the need to carry out traffic closures to divert vehicular traffic around the World Cup venue, although it is assured that on Thursday they will settle in the four accesses that exist to reach this mythical property.

At 10:40 in the morning, the Light Train, that connects the Taxqueña terminal with the Azteca Stadium and with the Xochimilco Mayor’s Officein the south of Mexico City, announced the closure of all stations until the transit of protesters concludes.

The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City made traffic cuts in Calzada de Tlalpan to guarantee the safety of the protesters. which has caused heavy traffic congestion in the area.

During their transit south, the protesters hung from a pedestrian bridge located on the corner of this artery with the Avenue of Roses a banner calling for a boycott of the Soccer World Cup, which was removed after a few minutes.

Reports indicate that security elements with helmets and shields were deployed in the vicinity of the Azteca Stadium, as well as at the intersection of this road and Division del Norte Avenue. It is also reported that a wall and a truck barricade were installed that obstruct the road to prevent the passage of the contingent.

The CNTE demands, among other things, the repeal of the ISSSTE Law 2007 and the Educational Reform of 2019, the return to the pension system without Afores and a 100% salary increase to the sinister salary.
