A Hispanic suspect linked to a shooting that occurred in 2024 on the 5 Freeway in East Los Angeles, in which a 29-year-old Latino died, was arrested in Mexicoreported the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
In a statement, the CHP reported that Christian Rojas, 21, a resident of Bellflower, who fled to Mexico was identified following the incident involving road rage. An arrest warrant was announced for Rojas, with bail set at $4.3 million.
Almost two years later, the CHP announced that a joint investigation with federal marshals resulted in the arrest.

Through a coordinated international effort, researchers They determined that Rojas was in the town of Palomo de Arribain the state of Guanajuato, Mexico.
“The United States Marshals Service (USMS) collaborated with the Mexican state police to locate and arrest him pursuant to the outstanding arrest warrant,” the CHP said in its statement.
Christian Rojas was arrested on June 2, 2026 in Mexico and was extradited to the United States. He is expected to face murder charges, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

The shooting occurred on October 10, 2024 on the 5 Freewaynear Lorena Avenue, in the Boyle Heights area, an incident in which one person, identified as Encarnación Escobedo, 29, died and another was injured.
The suspects escaped and later They were identified as Christian Rojas, 21, and Joshua Rojas Sr., 47.a Downey resident, the CHP said.
Joshua Rojas Sr. was arrested in San Bernardino about two weeks after the shooting and since then he remains in custody awaiting trial.
