The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, highlighted the report published this Monday by journalist Jesús García of La Opinión, who announced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) denied that the governors of Sonora, Alfonso Durazo, and of Tamaulipas, Américo Villarreal, have a ‘parole’ or special entry permit to the United States, used for security cases, after their visa was canceled.
“Well, we’ve all seen the information, it’s not good.”said the Mexican president when questioned by a reporter about this issue during the morning conference at the National Palace.
According to what was published by this newspaper, when requesting information via email from the DHS about possible special permits to the Mexican governors, the agency denied having granted them.
“Francisco Alfonso Durazo Montaño and Américo Villareal Anaya have not been [beneficiados con tal permiso]”the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told La Opinion.

The controversy over the alleged permits granted to Mexican officials arises after the American newspaper, Los Angeles Cases will reveal that Donald Trump’s administration is criminally investigating Alfonso Durazo and Américo Villarreal for alleged links to organized crime.which includes links to drug trafficking and fuel smuggling.
“Generally, this type of permit allows a person to enter the country without a visa but for the purpose, normally of cooperating with the United States, such as testifying in a grand jury where it has to be in person. I am not saying that the two governors of Tamaulipas and Sonora are cooperating, I have not confirmed that, What I have confirmed is that they have this type of special permit with very strict protocols, it is not for shopping in Houston, let’s say“said Steve Fisher, journalist from Los Angeles Cases, when interviewed by Jesús García from La Opinión.
“This has evidently unleashed a political maelstrom, a very strong issue in Mexico due to investigations, formal accusations against ten officials and former Mexican officials precisely because of organized crime,” said Jesús García in a special report for La Opinión on June 3.
The information revealed by this newspaper has also been taken up by Mexican media for analysis and conversation.
“A journalist, Jesús García, from La Opinión.com, Jesús García, says that the United States has denied that Mexican governors have a special permit used for security casesthat’s what this journalist says,” commented host Adela Micha during her program “Me lo told Adela,” after having a conversation with the Federal Deputy, Germán Martínez, this Monday, June 8.
