Spencer Pratt’s eligibility as a Los Angeles mayoral contender is at risk after some critics They questioned his candidacy for office after having to move to live in Santa Barbara County.
According to the city clerk’s office, people seeking to run for mayor had to be registered to vote in Los Angeles. and be residents of the city before January 3, 2026.

Pratt had to change his residence to Santa Barbara after losing his home to the Palisades Fire, in January 2025.

Pratt said he has been living in his father’s rented house in Carpinteria, about 12 miles (19 kilometers) south of Santa Barbara. but he clarified that his land burned by the Palisades fire, in Los Angeles, remains his honest residence.
A report in the Los Angeles Times said Pratt and his wife, singer Heidi Pratt, They registered an address in Carpintería in their electoral registrations.
Pratt listed it only as his mailing address.while his wife Heidi indicated it as both his postal and residential address.

In a video posted on social media, Pratt said he decided to run for mayor three months ago, without worrying about what zip code you had to live in to run for office as a candidate.
“I wasn’t thinking: ‘I really need to make sure I stay in this zip code just in case I run for mayor‘” Pratt stated in the video.
According to Pratt, moved a tow vehicle to his land in Pacific Palisadesand mentioned that he is waiting to be connected to the electrical grid.

Steve Pratt announced his candidacy for mayor of Los Angeles on January 7, the anniversary of the Palisades Fire, a conflagration that destroyed his residence. His campaign is focused on criticizing the response of municipal officials to the fire.
Pratt entered the public scene in 2007 after beginning a relationship with Heidi Montag.a cast member of “The Hills”, and over time became a routine of the series. The couple married the following year and have two children.
The Los Angeles mayor’s office is currently headed by Karen Bass, who is campaigning for re-election to office.
