Upon arrival at the premiere, director Sam Levinson mentioned actors Angus Cloud and Eric Dane, as well as producer Kevin Turen, who died prior to this long-awaited premiere.
“They ask me why it took us so long between seasons two and three. There were obvious factors: strikes, balancing the schedules of a highly requested cast, but the real reason was finding a way to pay respect to those who are no longer here.“He commented in a talk with the media.
According to Levinson, Angus Cloud’s death in 2023 (as a result of a fentanyl overdose) was especially hard on the entire team: “Losing Angus was really hard for us as a production. I loved him deeply (…) I loved him very much, and I fought with all my might to keep him clean.“he commented.
Regarding actor Eric Dane, whose death was confirmed on February 19 after complications related to his ALS diagnosis, the creator recounted his experience recording the final season.
“When he came, I noticed that his speech was somewhat affected. He felt a little insecure. I said, ‘This works perfectly. We’re going to put five bottles of beer in front of you and you’re going to say everything you would never say if you were sober.’ We had a great time recording. He appeared with great dignity and integrity. He is a professional until the end and I miss him“he commented.
