If you feel saddened by all the problems we are experiencing, be sure to attend the Hope California Festival that has been taking place since March and culminates on April 11 at the LA Memorial Coliseum, in an event that will be a transformative experience that will bring you faith, healing and hope.
The Festival has been celebrated over a period of 40 days, at the same time as commemorating the 120th anniversary of the Azusa Road Revival, a historic and interracial Pentecostal movement in Los Angeles.
“It’s a family-friendly event with live music, delicious food, surprises, and a powerful encounter with God,” said Pastor Mando Mathews, founder of HOPE California.
“It will be a time of healing, restoration, baptisms and valid hope.
Invite those you love… it could be the moment that transforms your life.”
In an interview with La Opinión, the founder of HOPE said that they will begin on April 11, praying for California and the evils and problems that occur in the world.
“The first three hours will be a prayer rally. We are also commemorating the 120th anniversary of the Azusa Road Revival that took place in Los Angeles, a historic movement that brought healing and hope.”
He said they are also commemorating evangelist Billy Graham’s meeting that took place in 1963, which to this day remains the largest meeting held in the history of the Coliseum.
“154,000 gathered in 1963 at the Coliseum for Billy Graham’s crusade. So we commemorate the incredible things God has done in Los Angeles and we will pray that we will see God do even more.”
He noted that the event is sponsored by churches and Christians, but is open to the entire Los Angeles community.
“Everyone is invited to attend. We will have an indoor fun zone. There will be a skating show three times throughout the day, between 12:00 and 9:00 pm and there will also be inflatable games.”
He said that the competition will be a lot of fun for the whole family, but there will also be many raffles and bicycles, groceries, a car and gift cards will be given away.
He revealed that towards the end of the night, they will be delivering significant financial assistance to five families damaged by the January 2025 fires in Los Angeles, who were uninsured or affected in some way.
“We will call five families on stage and present them with this significant financial support. We cannot reveal the exact amount, but the goal is to bring hope to those families who lost their homes to the fires.”

Ultimately, he emphasized that the competition revolves around bringing hope to Los Angeles, and to the community at a time when so much darkness and hopelessness prevail.
He explained that when we talk about a 40-day competition, it is because many of the churches and organizations launched an initiative called 40 Days of Hope.
“The initiative began on March 1 and ends on April 9. But, basically, there have been 40 days dedicated to praying for the community. So the invitation is for April 11.”
Pastor Matthews said the April 11 event includes nine hours of fun, festive atmosphere, social gathering, prayer and worship.
“We will feature incredible bands and artists, including a 120-member choir representative of the entire city, in commemoration of 120 years of the Azusa Road Revival.”
He highlighted that Sons of Grunt—one of the participating groups—will be present, as well as Lecrae, a rapper considered probably the most prominent Christian rap artist of the last 15 years in the United States.
“We will also feature singer Kim Walker-Smith and Miel San Marcos, a well-known Hispanic group. The entire event will be bilingual; all activities will be carried out in both English and Spanish.”
The event begins at 12:00 noon when the doors will open and will continue until 9:00 p.m.
“And you should know that it is completely free from payment.”
What would be your message for people who come to this event? What will they be able to get at the end when they leave this place, how will they feel?
“We hope that they walk away feeling that they have experienced hope regarding their personal circumstances and situations. And that will manifest itself in the following way: there will be a time dedicated to prayer, healing and miracles happening.”
Therefore, he said that people will be healed and will receive help.
“Those people who do not have many resources will be given gifts; in short, there is a lot they will be able to experience by attending, in addition to enjoying a great musical experience and lots of fun for the whole family.
“So it’s a great opportunity to renew faith, especially after all of these terrible things that we’ve been experiencing since last year, particularly here in Los Angeles.”
How many people do you expect to receive?
“We are expecting between 70,000 and 75,000 attendees to fill the stadium. Since we are commemorating the 120th anniversary of the Azusa Road Revival, we will welcome people from all over the world, although mainly from California and Los Angeles County.”
Pastor Matthews invited to the competition all those who need a miracle, healing, or feel hopeless, whether due to depression, suicidal thoughts, or any of those things we often experience, including financial challenges.
“I would say to the Hispanic community and all of Los Angeles: come, because you are going to experience healing, miracles and a message of hope and salvation; It is going to be a day of hope.”
In the wake of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, the growing problem of homelessness, rising crime and violence, and the many challenges the Los Angeles community has faced, Hope California recognized the urgent need to mobilize the entire state and nation to converge on Los Angeles and bring lasting hope.
Moved by these severe issues and driven by faith, the competition was joined by respected organizations including Harvest World Ministry, Ekballo Pasadena, Shake the Countries, Mountain Gateway, Lou Engle Ministries, Dream Heart, 40 Days of Hope and many other nonprofit organizations and leaders driven by a common mission: to share a message of hope, healing, unity and practical compassion in every neighborhood of Los Angeles County.
