A wink to the Latin public
Of the 21 songs that make up the album, “Oye mi amor” is the only song in Spanish and, furthermore, the only one that does not belong to Dua Lipa’s official catalogue.
With fluid pronunciation, the “Levitating” singer sings the catchy chorus: “Hey my love, don’t tell me no, and let’s gather souls.”
The usual theme belongs to “Where will the children play?”, Maná’s third studio album, released in 1992. Including it in this live subject matter is another example of Dua Lipa’s polyglot facet: throughout her world tourl “Radical Optimism”, which totaled more than 92 showss, the singer has performed versions of songs in eight different languages.
In a statement released after the launch, Fher Olvera expressed his excitement about the collaboration:
“Singing ‘Oye mi amor’ with a great artist of international caliber like Dua Lipa was something very special. It is an emblematic song for Maná and for our fans around the world; it has been an important part of our history as a band.”
The composer also highlighted the cultural impact of this meeting: for him, The evolution of the song is an example of how Maná “continues to cross generations and languages”. And he highlighted: “Hearing it resonate with those who did not grow up speaking Spanish is an immense source of pride for us as Mexicans and for all Latin music.”
After this collaboration that went around the world, Maná is preparing for a new global stage. The band will headline, along with Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, J Balvin and Los Ángeles Azules, the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cupwhich will take place on June 11 at the Mexico City Stadium.
