Simeone highlighted the difficulties that players who come to Spanish football from other leagues usually face, especially those who come from competitions other than the European environment. In that context, he appreciated the way in which Vargas has approached his arrival at the red and white team since his incorporation in the last January market.
“It is clear that it is not easy to adapt to Atlético de Madrid and to the native league for many footballers, let’s imagine the boys who come from other competitions, but He is a dedicated boy, eager to grow, eager to evolve, wanting to listen and above all follow the line of what the coach and the team need,” declared the coach.
The Atlético coach also left open the possibility that the Mexican’s performance will allow him to consolidate within the squad in the coming months.
“He seems predisposed and It will always depend on what happens on the fieldwhich is what counts,” Simeone added.
A young talent who made the leap from the MLS
Obed Vargas arrived at Atlético de Madrid after standing out in the Seattle Sounders of the MLS, tournament in which he was considered one of the most important young promises of North American soccer. Born in Alaska and with Mexican-American nationality, the midfielder decided to represent the Mexican team internationally before starting his time in Europe.
Since his arrival at the Colchonero club, the midfielder has played 12 games, seven of them as a starter. His presence in the team has been increasing progressively during the second half of the season.
The confidence shown by Simeone reflects the monitoring that the coaching staff does on the growth of the 20-year-old footballer, who seeks to adapt to the pace and demands of the Spanish LaLiga in one of the most competitive teams in the championship.
Atlético will now face a new commitment against Villarreal with Vargas shaping up to appear from the startin a context where the club continues to focus on the development of young footballers within its sporting project.
