Francisca, again, did not remain silent in the face of criticism. After receiving hundreds of comments about her silk turban, the “Nuestra Belleza Latina” winner responded and attempted to educate her followers about its meaning.
Through a video published on her Instagram profile, the co-host of the morning show “Despierta América”, on Univision, explained why this accessory is much more than a simple garment.
“You have to be very careful when you speak, you have to speak with knowledge because, not specifically, but Afro women and curly women used scarves as a symbol of resistance, as a symbol of identity, as a symbol of style”
In the same video, he added: “So when I have this on what I feel like I have on is a crown, and I am very sorry that you cannot see it, that you see a simple rag”.
An essential for curly hair
Beyond the cultural and historical significance, Francisca detailed the basic role that the silk scarf plays in caring for her curly hair. “This is an essential in the life of any curly girl”he highlighted.
The presenter also explained the benefits of this fabric, explaining that it protects the structure of the curls, especially at bedtime.
In turn, the presenter also indicated that the turban helps keep the hair hydrated, since silk does not absorb the natural moisture of the hair at all. He highlighted that the humidity of the curls allows the hair’s elasticity not to be lost and not to break.
Lachapel confessed that his hectic daily routine makes the turban a primary tool: “Since I don’t stop doing things during the day, it helps me maintain my hairstyle.”
Francisca is characterized by being open with her followers. In fact, when she gave birth to her third baby, Raffaela, she shared the first details on television and, in July 2025, she expressed:
“I am very happy, very happy to share this princess with you.. You know it is so long awaited and so loved in our family. She’s big, she cries a lot” and then added: “It was very exciting because I had the opportunity to take my own daughter out, the doctor told me give me your hands and I took her out and put her on my chest, I saw her so strong, so healthy, so pretty.”
