“The Godfather”, considered one of the most successful literary works after its transition to cinema, will expand its universe with a new novel which will continue the events of the iconic mafia family and will focus the narrative on Connie Corleone, the only daughter of Don Vito Corleone.
According to a statement from the publisher Random Dwelling, The sequel to this literary work will be titled “Connie” and will be directed by Adriana Trigianiauthor of hits like “The Shoemaker’s Wife” and “The Look From Lake Como.”
The announcement also revealed that this sequel will explore the evolution of “a character who for years remained in the background” within a family dominated by male figures such as Vito, Sonny and Michael.
“The novel will delve into how Connie tries to forge her own destiny in an environment marked by power, violence and rules that seem designed exclusively for men”reads the writing.
In this sense, the author Adriana Trigiani explained that although the fundamental character of this novel will be a completely different one from the long-established one, the focus of the work will maintain its essence: “Those who underestimated Don Vito Corleone and Michael Corleone paid dearly. Exactly the same thing will happen with Connie Corleone,” he said.
Although the public currently associates “The Godfather” with the film trilogy directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, the long-established story goes back to the novel by Mario Puzo, published worldwide in 1969.
It would be the great success of the book and these film adaptations that turned this story into a cultural phenomenon. For this reason, Antonio Puzo, son of the writer, chose to give his support to “Connie”, which according to the publisher Random Dwelling, will hit shelves in 2027.
